Ingredients
Chocolate Cake Base
• 180 g all-purpose flour
• 50 g unsweetened cocoa powder
• 200 g granulated sugar
• 1½ teaspoons baking powder
• ½ teaspoon baking soda
• ¼ teaspoon salt
• 2 large eggs, room temperature
• 120 ml vegetable oil
• 180 ml milk
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Chocolate Mousse Layer
• 300 ml heavy cream, cold
• 200 g milk chocolate, melted and cooled
• 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
Chocolate Ganache Drip
• 150 g dark chocolate
• 120 ml heavy cream
Decoration
• 100 g chocolate buttercream for piping
Method
I baked the chocolate cake by mixing the dry ingredients first, then whisking in the eggs, oil, milk, and vanilla until smooth and glossy. The batter went into a lined springform pan and baked until set but still moist in the center. Once cooled, the cake formed the perfect rich base.
For the mousse, I whipped the cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks formed, then gently folded in the melted chocolate until airy and smooth. I spread the mousse evenly over the cake and chilled it until firm. The ganache was made by pouring hot cream over chopped chocolate and stirring until shiny, then letting it cool slightly before drizzling it generously over the cake. A simple buttercream border finished it beautifully.
